Home remedies for Snoring

Snoring occurs when there is a shaking of your soft palate (it is the back part of the top of
your mouth). The muscles supporting the opening of the higher airway in the reverse of the
throat relax during sleep. Additional tissue in the palate and uvula, the thickset piece between
the tonsils-vibrates with each breath, and these vibrations really cause the sound of snoring.
In a few people, the airway has a capability to close at any point. Narrowing of the airway will cause disorder and the noises of snoring

Preserve a usual weight – Losing weight can deeply reduce or even end snoring and likely obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Suitable diet and exercise to losing weight.

Smoking can cause amplified nasal congestion and mucous in the throat area. Breathing through the nose is more effective way to bring air into the lungs than mouth breathing.

What can I do about my snoring problem?

I have already been to the doctor for this and he prescribed a C-pap machine. It really doesn’t do me any good, it’s uncomfortable, and I didn’t notice any change in my energy level. He said there is only 1 other option, which is surgery, but he couldn’t be sure it would do any good. Some nights are worse than others, and I’m not the loudest or worst snorer, and I’ve been told that I stop breathing many times during the night. I am only slightly overweight, about 30 pounds, so I don’t think losing weight will help much. Is there any kind of herbal remedy, exercises, or anything else I can do to help with my snoring problem?

Home Remedies

There is good news (you can get rid of snoring without operation) and news that may confront you with having to make decisions regarding your present lifestyle.

It is like asking an overweight woman to stop eating calorie rich unhealthy food in order for here to lose weight and rid herself of diet and lifestyle related diseases. Sometimes they prefer surgery. What can you say.
Snoring is caused mostly in those who are overweight. How many pounds is too much, depends on the person, his habits and circumstances. First of all even a few pounds can be enough to get rid of the fat sitting in the sinuses and blocking the passages causing friction thus creating the whistling sound comparable to draft under a wooden door.

Secondly, stop eating before bedtime. The body takes fluids from everywhere it can to digest. Yes also out of the head: and even from the brain, leaving you with dried out air passages, bad dreams and a uncomfortable night. When this happens for many years it impairs the brain in general.
Have your last meal at around 6. Eating something ´wet´ such as a salad later (with fresh vegetables) is fine and drinking lots of water before turning in, is great. Further, get a room humidifier (nothing fancy with filters and stuff) , get a cheapie that uses distilled water. MUST clean it out with vinegar each month though because you don´t want mold to form and get blown into your nostrils. That would create a different problem. Place the humidifier as close to you as possible. If you have pets sleeping in your bedroom, get them into a different room since they take up the best parts of oxygen. Believe it or not leaving you with the left overs which is qualitatively not so pure. Unless of course you can open the window and let fresh air come in.

Choose what is best for you and think twice before you decide on invasive treatment. One of my friends had it done and has never been able to sing again (as good as he used to) and he still snores because what was taken away caused him to also loose the ability to keep the mouth and sinus area wet enough. It also caused a chronic problem with swallowing especially when he has a cold. Remember, most conditions are easily solvable, once we know how. If that ain´t good news. p.s. also no alcohol after dinner since
it dries out tremendously p.s. 2: lose a few pounds – can´t be that hard. p.s.3 try sleeping with your head slightly tilted upwards. p.s.4 Arrange with your partner that she can wake you every time your snoring wakes her. This psychological approach helps you become motivated to really do something about it. This way it becomes a real problem for the both of you (and not only your partner).

What medicine can I take to stop snoring?

I snore really loud and my snoring can be heard by everybody in the entire house hold?
what medicine can i take that doesn’t affect my asthma?

It’s not easy for me to admit, but sometimes I snore at night. It doesn’t prevent me from getting a good night’s sleep, but it keeps my husband awake. In fact, it drives him crazy! My problem is that I get congested at night, especially during allergy season. So, my method of treating it has been to combat my allergies and to find ways to keep my nasal passages clear at night. For me, that means using a menthol inhaler and placing a drop of peppermint essential oil on my pillow. If you snore, it may be for different reasons. The first thing you need to do is identify what they are. Once you do that, you will have a lot more success in finding a way to eliminate it.

Causes for Snoring

Snoring is caused when your nasal passages are narrowed or blocked. There can be a variety of reasons for this. Here’s a list: Congestion Colds Allergies Overweight Sleep apnea Alcohol Muscle relaxant drugs Drugs that promote drowsiness Your physical traits such as a deviated septum or large tonsils Asthma Sleeping on your back

See A Doctor

See a doctor to find a cause. If you snore, you may want to see a doctor. Even though most cases can be explained, there are some occasions where they indicate a more serious medical problem that may need treatment such as sleep apnea or asthma. In other words, they will help you find the cause and provide you with some solutions. For example, if you have a deviated septum, your doctor may recommend corrective surgery. If you need help losing weight, your doctor could provide you with some helpful advice. Doctors are trained to assist you in finding a cause for the things that ail you. If your snoring is prolonged or severe it can affect your health by interrupting your sleep patterns. By doing this you are taking a positive step to assisting your health.

Home Remedies

Get rid of congestion. Even if you determine that your snoring is caused by something other than congestion, keeping your nasal passages as clear as possible will help. You can do this in a number of ways. Here are some of the best ways I’ve found that can help: * Take a decongestant. There are many choices–some are herbal or homeopathic remedies and others need to be purchased at the drug store. I personally don’t like to take drug store remedies because I am not able to sleep when I take them. * Use a menthol inhaler. This is my favorite option. The menthol works for several hours and I find that when I use it, I don’t snore. * Essential oils. If I can’t find my inhaler or want a change of pace, I place a few drops of essential on my pillow. My favorites are peppermint, rosemary and tea tree.

Control your allergies. Allergies are another cause for snoring. If you control your allergies you can decrease your chances of snoring. You can either take over the counter medicine to control them, get a prescription from your doctor, or use natural remedies. Vitamin C, green tea, grape seed extract, and stinging nettle are my favorite natural allergy medications.

Control your weight. Being overweight is another common cause for snoring. If you keep your weight down or lose weight, that may help eliminate the snoring. You can choose to lose weight any method that will work for you. Just remember that slow, gradual weight loss is usually longer lasting.
