SNORING…is it true that people who snore too loudly/frequently can get an operation in their nose to stop…

the snoring?

Yeah, but not before ruling out a few other things. E.g being overweight (no offence). My hubby is on the large side, not over much but he’s a big bloke and he goes through atges of snoring especially if he puts on a few pounds. We tried snoring strips which are ok but well pricey! What he does now is squirts two squirts of nasel spray up each nostril before going to bed and touch wood so far it seems to work. Good luck, snoring can be very frustrating for both of you , you don’t get any sleep because of it and neither does he because we keep waking him up to tell him he is snoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How should I deal with a snoring problem?

This summer I’m going to this summer camp where I’ll live for 3 weeks.

Everyone will share one room with a roomate.

Last year (I went to the same camp) my roomate was really nice, but she did mention that I snore and it kind of kept her awake the first night at camp.

This year, how should I handle my snoring problem? Should I just tell my new roomate right off the bat that I snore? And what do I do if it keeps her awake at night?

First of all rule out any medical problem like a deviated nasal septum, any other obstruction in the nose like growth of nasal polyps or an obstruction in the throat while sleeping.
Here are a few tips which can help you to get rid of this habit permanently.
1. LOOSE WEIGHT.20% of over weight men and 30% of over weight women snore more.
2. If you are not active in life, you will snore more.
3. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL before dinner. If you do,then to avoid snoring, drink a lot of water before you sleep.
4. QUIT SMOKING.If you can’t,then give a break of at least 4 hours before you sleep.
5. SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE and not straight. If you are a moderate snorer,it will stop if you sleep on your side.
6. AVOID PILLOWS.Avoid elevation of your head and neck and you will snore less or stop snoring.

How can I get my dog to stop snoring or at least control it better?

She is a 13 month old Pit and Lab mix. She’s been snoring ever since she was a puppy and now its to the point where you can’t sleep. She doesn’t snore every single night. A couple days might pass with her not snoring then she will start again, it just varies. Is there anything I can do about it?

Is she overweight? If so, getting her down to a healthy weight will reduce it (but in some dogs may not eliminate it). When I adopted my Boston, she snored like a chainsaw and weighed close to 20 pounds. I got her down to an ideal weight (which for her ended up being 14.5 pounds), and she almost never snores now unless she gets herself in a strange position while she sleeps! If you aren’t sure if she’s overweight, put your hands on her ribcage behind each elbow. Apply very slight pressure and run them along the ribcage, moving towards the rear. You should easily feel the ribs with slight pressure. If you have to press harder, she’s overweight. If she is in good condition, there’s likely nothing you can do, it probably has to do with the structure of her sinuses.

What causes some people to snore real loudly?

My brother is snoring like crazy. What could be causing him to snore so loudly?

The reason someone snores is that the airway in the throat narrows, and they have too much throat and nasal tissue. A narrow airway interferes with breathing smoothly. The sound of snoring is caused by the vibration of floppy tissue in the throat.
People snore for different reasons, and it is important to know the causes so they can be treated. Snoring with the mouth closed indicates problems with the tongue. Snoring with the mouth open indicates problems with the tissue in the throat. A lot of people only snore when they sleep on their back, so sleep habits and lifestyle are sometimes to blame.
There are many different causes for snoring, some that can be controlled and some that cannot. Some people snore because they have narrow throats and enlarged adenoids, which are caused by heredity. The older a person gets, the more likely he is to snore: as he becomes middle-aged, the throat’s muscle tone begins to decrease, causing snoring. Men are more likely to snore then women. Allergies, colds, asthma and sinus infections block airways and cause snoring.
Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone cause snoring. Smoking cigarettes or being around second-had smoke causes snoring, because it relaxes the muscles in the throat and creates nasal congestion. Alcohol and medications can also make the throat more relaxed. Some people snore when sleeping on their backs because the flesh of the throat blocks their airways.
